With winter weather still lingering, Ellis Brigham has cut selected Sorel boots by 50% in a rare sale. The UK mountain sports specialist and official Team GB winter footwear stockist is discounting styles designed for cold and wet conditions that still work for everyday wear.
Sorel boots are known for combining warmth, waterproof protection and comfort from the first wear, making them a popular choice for icy pavements, muddy walks and long winter days without the usual breaking in time. First up are the Explorer II Joan boots, which are £72.50 down from £144.99 - a total of 50% off.
These currently come in sizes UK 4 and 5, with 6 and 7 out of stock, as well as two colours: Velvet Tan and Black. They are said to be designed as a lighter, more flexible winter option that still offers reliable warmth and waterproof protection.

They also feature a waterproof construction -suede and polyurethane leather to help keep feet dry in rain or snow - along with an insulated lining to lock in heat during colder days. The streamlined design also makes them easy to wear day-to-day, rather than feeling like purely outdoor boots.
A second option is the Whitney II Plus Lace Boots for £62.50 down from £125 from the website, and they are designed for cold, wet days in the city. They're lightweight but well insulated, with 200g of synthetic insulation and a soft microfleece lining to keep feet warm without feeling bulky.

Seam sealed, waterproof construction helps keep moisture out, making them practical for winter weather while still looking smart enough for everyday wear. If these aren’t the ones for everyone, there are also the Icey Women's Long Snow Boots for £19.99, down from £49.99, at Mountain Warehouse.
These are up for grabs in sizes 4 to 8, are snow proof and have ‘sherpa fleece insulation’ to keep people's feet warm and comfortable. MandM also has the Trespass Men's Straiton 2 Waterproof Snow Boots in Black for £24.99, down from £62.99.
These come in sizes UK 7 to 12, are waterproof and have a rubber sole for added grip. They also have a lace fastening and lightly cushioned footbed, the site says.
Shoppers have rated the Sorel boots high however on Ellis Brigham's website, as one person said: “They are so warm and comfortable! I wear them all the time, I love them! The colour is great, it goes with everything. They are perfect.”
Another wrote: “I’ve worn these everywhere and they were comfortable without any breaking in time. I wear them regularly for walks around my neighbourhood and walk for miles in NYC and DC. Even when walking in snow and ice my feet stayed warm and dry.”
A handful of others disagreed slightly, however, as one said: “These boots look great and are super warm and comfortable. They fit true to size. The only reason I rated them 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that they could use more arch support.”
Someone also commented on the Whitney II boots and said: “Very comfortable boots, stylish and practical. Feet a little cold in minus degrees, size up for wearing thick socks.”
Overall, most people were pleased, though, as this person wrote: “Warm and comfortable, I wore them to work and helped me not slip in the icy parking lot. I haven’t worn them in the snow yet.”
