The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog, affecting several areas across Wales from 8pm this evening (Thursday, January 15) until 7am on Friday, January 16.
Forecasters say that fog patches will become more widespread and dense during Thursday evening, with visibility potentially falling below 100 metres in some locations. The fog is expected to thin and lift into low cloud late at night or early Friday morning.
The warning covers major areas including Denbighshire, Flintshire, Powys, and Wrexham. It is expected to start from Brecon, moving northwards towards Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells, while Newton and Welshpool are included in the affected zone, stretching up to Ruthin and Holywell. As a result, the Met Office has warned of potential delays or cancellations to flights, as well as slower journeys on roads, bus, and train services.
Drivers are urged to check road conditions, allow extra journey time, and consider altering plans if necessary. It is also recommended to ensure fog lights are switched on and in working order before setting off.
Passengers using public transport or flying should monitor updates from their travel providers and follow any advice issued.
The Met Office also advises the public to stay up to date with local forecasts, as weather warnings may change.
