A landlady is being 'removed' from a North Staffordshire pub. The tenant will open the Crown & Cushion, in Biddulph, for the final time on Sunday, January 25.

The High Street venue is then due to be refurbished by Punch Taverns before a new tenant is expected to be installed.
β
In a social media post to drinkers, the Crown & Cushion stated: "Due to circumstances beyond our control the Crown & Cushion is being returned to Punch Taverns who are conducting a major refurbishment of the pub. They will be running it directly and appointing a new manager. We are extremely disappointed that we have to hand it back but Punch Taverns is changing its business direction and removing tenants from certain sites such as ourselves.
β
"We would like to thank all of our customers for the many years of support and loyalty you have shown whilst we have been there. We look forward to seeing you all. We will miss you all dearly and hope you all have an amazing year ahead. The last day we will be open is January 25."
