Police have released CCTV of a group of youths they want to speak to in connection with a North Staffordshire street attack. Officers believe three girls and seven boys were involved in two incidents in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The first incident involved an assault on a man in his 40s in the Holborn and Castle Hill Road area on Tuesday, January 6. The victim suffered head and eye injuries before the suspects ran off in the direction of the town centre, through the underpass, towards Bridge Street.

A day later, the victim reported that his car, a beige Nissan Qashqai, had been damaged. The vehicle had been parked close to an education centre and the mirrors were smashed. The suspects, believed to be around 10 individuals including three girls, left the scene in the direction of Silverdale and Dunkirk Street.

Now officers have released two security footage images of the children they believe may hold the key to solving the crimes.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Do you recognise these individuals? We would like to speak to them after a man was assaulted and criminal damage took place in Newcastle-under-Lyme recently. We were called at 4.15pm on Tuesday, January 6 to Lower Street following reports of violence. A man had been assaulted by a group of individuals near Holborn and the Castle Hill Road area.

"A day later, the victim reported that his car, a beige Nissan Qashqai, had been damaged. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the incidents and would like to speak to those pictured as part of their inquiries. Anyone who recognises these individuals, or has relevant information."

Witnesses should contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 474 of January 6 for the assault or 791 of January 7 for the criminal damage. To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
