Armed police were called to an estate in Taunton after a tip-off about a suspected firearm at a property.
Avon and Somerset Police said it received information at 7.15am yesterday (January 12) and deployed armed officers "out of caution" to the Outer Circle area of Taunton.
Locals in the Halcon estate reported seeing armed officers in the area on Monday morning.
Pictures from the scene show a number of armed officers in the estate.
The force said it was quickly established that no weapon was present and deployment was stood down.
“A 7.15am on Monday 12 January we received information about the potential for a suspected firearm to be present at a property in Outer Circle, Taunton.
“Out of an abundance of caution, armed officers were deployed, however it was quickly established that no weapon was present and the deployment was stood down.”
