Everything we know so far after a 'bomb' was found at a building site in Plymouth:
- The suspected device was found at a building site in Martin Street on Wednesday, January 14 after police were called at 11.40am. Roads were shut and a 100m cordon was put in place, with Royal Navy bomb disposal experts also dispatched to the scene to deal with the 'small device'.
- The cordon was later expanded and residential properties on Millbay Road were advised to evacuate. Millbay Academy was evacuated and will remain close on Thursday. Moxy Hotel was also evacuated and will remain closed until the operation to make the device safe has concluded.
- Work to make the device safe was paused overnight and residents were allowed to return home due to limited daylight and the need for additional equipment. Royal Navy bomb disposal experts and police will continue work this morning (Thursday, January 15).
- Further properties are expected to be evacuated as work continues. The council have said: "At this stage, we do not know which properties will be affected or the exact timing."
- An Evacuation Assembly Point is going to be set up at Christ the King Church Hall on Armada Way). It will be open during the evacuation to provide help and support.
