This latest talking-animal toon from Disney is already on course to be their biggest ever release, having taken a whopping $200m Stateside.

And it’s not hard to see why, for here’s a great-looking, emotionally engaging and enormously entertaining movie guaranteed to delight kids and adults alike.

The hero is Judy Hopps, a small-town rabbit (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin ) who heads to the city to fulfil her dream of becoming a cop.

When the city’s animal residents start going missing, she teams up with a wily fox (Jason Bateman) as the plucky bunny is given 48 hours to crack the case by the station chief ( Idris Elba ).

The voice cast also includes Shakira, Octavia Spencer and JK Simmons.
