The X Factor live shows kicked off tonight, with a brand new format, where there's no sing-off.

In the new format, there's no sing-off and the act with the least amount of votes is kicked out.

Dermot O'Leary revealed Spencer Sutherland was the first act eliminated.

He said: "I just want to take the opportunity to thank everyone so much, and the UK for welcoming me with open arms."

In the new format, Dermot also revealed who viewers voted the best on the night.
In tonight's episode, the boys and girls went head to head, and tomorrow's sees the groups battle it out with the overs.
Grace Davies - after becoming the first ever X Factor contestant to sing an original song on the live shows - was voted the viewers' fave.

She'll battle it out with the viewers' favourite in a showdown tomorrow, in a bid to win a singing master-class with P!nk.

Grace's odds have now been cut into 2-1, from 5-2, by leading bookmaker Coral to win X Factor.
Holly Tandy is available at 9-2 as she made it safely through to next week, while Lloyd Macey is 14-1.βGrace Davies not only picked up the most votes from the public on the opening show, she was by far the most selection with punters as over 70% of the bets we have taken in the outright market have been for the talented young singer-songwriter,β said Coralβs John Hill.
