Apple TV's hotly-anticipated thriller, Disclaimer, is finally landing on screens this Friday and fans can't contain their excitement. Five-time Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón is at the helm of this star-studded series, as writer and director.
The story follows an acclaimed journalist (named Catherine Ravenscroft) whose career is built on exposing seedy truths about people and institutions. One day, she receives a mysterious novel which features her as the main character and details dark secrets from her past. Catherine tracks down the novel's author, retired teacher Stephen Brigstocke, and finds that he is determined to expose her story to the world, potentially ruining her well-crafted reputation.
Based on Renée Knight's novel of the same name, the ensemble cast includes Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett as the leading lady and Sacha Baron Cohen as her husband. The cast also features Kevin Kline as Stephen Brigstocke and up-and-coming actor Louis Partridge, known for his role in Netflix's Enola Holmes, as Kline's on-screen son Jonathan.
Airing as a seven-part series, the first two episodes drop this week, with the other five dropping weekly until November 15.
Since the trailer was released, fans have been sharing their excitement on social media. On X, formerly Twitter, one fan penned: "If you haven't read the book, this series is going to blow your mind #Dislaimer in 4 days." Meanwhile, on YouTube, one fan exclaimed: "Omggg this feels and looks amazing!! Cate Blanchett is out of this world!
A second chimed in: "I saw the first three episodes at [Toronto International Film Festival] and thought this was fantastic. Cannot wait to see the rest of the show!" Joining the celebration, a third commented: "I heard about this series and the sheer amount of talent involved, and I got so excited that I read the novel in 3 days. Very, very excited to see how Cuarón adapts this story - the cast and crew he's assembled is so absurdly good it's almost overkill."
A fourth added: "OMFG!! This looks epic and the score is just...delicious." With another promising: "This will get an Emmy, trust me." (sic)
Disclaimer wowed audiences at Venice Film Festival this summer, receiving a five-minute standing ovation. Early reviews of the series have also been positive, with critic on Rotten Tomatoes awarding it a fresh 79% rating.
Disclaimer premieres October 11 on Apple TV+.
