Disney's Snow White was finally released in UK theatres on Friday. Eager fans have already hit the cinema - and although some say it's 'worse than they thought' others are full of praise.

The live action remake is a re-imagining of the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Although many were excited to see the remake of the iconic film, it has been hit with controversies. One of the main criticisms of the movie was that Disney used CGI dwarfs, which was called out by members for dwarfism community who criticised the lack of authentic casting.

The decision has been called out by stars including Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who asked: "What the f**k are you doing, man?" Despite this, the movie, starring young actress Rachel Zegler as Snow White, has been estimated to make $53 million over the course of its opening weekend at the domestic box office, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

X, formerly known as Twitter is abuzz with the mixed reviews. "#SnowWhite is a movie everyone should watch," penned one fan. "The film is visually stunning, showcasing everything from the wicked queen to enchanted forests. It truly honors the original story. I really enjoyed the new songs! I hope y’all enjoy it this weekend!"

A second agreed: "I was so iffy about this movie at first because of all the negative media on Rachel, but I'm so glad I watched it cause I loved it. #SnowWhite."

Fans were full of praise for Rachel, as another wrote: "Saw #SnowWhite last night and it was so good. Rachel Zegler SHINED. Gal Gadot… well at least Rachel Zegler shined lol. The music was [fire emoji] too but I expected nothing less from Pasek and Paul."

However, others weren't so complimentary of the film, as one wrote: "Even by the standards of Disney musicals targeted at children, #SnowWhite is BAD. #RachelZegler deserves better."

Another disappointed fan agreed: "Just watched Snow White.. it's worse than I thought." Rachel was forced to 'hit back' at fans claiming her Latina ethnicity didn't represent the character having "skin as white as snow". Rachel wrote on X at the time: "Yes i am snow white no i am not bleaching my skin for the role."

Before the film was released, she told Allure Magazine: "The reality is, I was given a chance because I could sing.

"My only prayer for the future of diversity and inclusion is that we invest in and nurture talent no matter what they look like."
