Kris Marshall has expressed his delight at reuniting with his former Death in Paradise co-star Don Warrington in the spin-off series, Beyond Paradise.
TV star Kris previously starred in the BBC's popular crime drama Death in Paradise, set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie. He reprised his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the new series, Beyond Paradise, which sees Humphrey settling down in Devon.
The festive episode of the much-loved show aired this weekend and featured a surprise reunion between Humphrey and Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, his former boss from the island.
Selwyn made an unexpected appearance after Humphrey's partner Martha arranged a wedding for them.
Kris has since spoken about how much he appreciated the cameo, admitting that he had "really missed" working with Don, reports the Express.
In the episode, Selwyn makes his entrance as Humphrey and Martha (played by Sally Bretton ) are about to exchange vows.
"Oh crikey! Commissioner!" exclaims Humphrey.
To which the Commissioner responds in his typically curt manner: "Nice of you to join us Inspector."
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Kris said: "I'd always particularly enjoyed my scenes with Don. I've also been on stage with him, in Glengarry Glen Ross in the West End, but particularly in Death in Paradise, I always found we just had such delightful scenes together.
"That's one of the things I really missed about not doing Death in Paradise anymore, so having gone back and recreating [it] with the same sort of obtuseness... I think it intrigues Humphrey, he finds it quite wry. I'm always delighted to do more scenes with Don."
Audiences were equally thrilled to witness Selwyn's return, as he remains a beloved character in the original series.
"I love that Martha made sure to invite Commissioner Patterson (feels wrong calling him Selwyn) to her & Humphrey's wedding because she knew how much it would mean to Humphrey to have him there while not even bothering to invite any of his family lol," one viewer posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Brilliant, loved to see Selwyn, excellent Christmas special," commented another fan.
A third viewer added: "What a lovely #BeyondParadise Christmas special tonight. Nice touch bringing Selwyn in for the wedding, it was lovely to see him. Hope he becomes a regular in the series."
