Inside Love Island's £1.2million new villa - complete with zip wire and running track - The Mirror

Love Island is set to return for its winter series next month, with it reportedly being based on a 25 acre estate in South Africa - which it's been claimed is costing more than £1 million to rent for months

Love Island bosses are reportedly hiring out the venue for the new series for £1.2 million, with the accommodation boasting facilities like a treehouse and a football pitch.

The ITV show is set to return next month from South Africa. The winter edition will be fronted by Maya Jama, 28, who's the new host after Laura Whitmore, 37, stepped down.

It's been reported that the contestants will be staying at the Ludus Magnus estate in Franschhoek. The 25 acre estate, near Cape Town, is said to be solar-powered.

The estate boasts a number of facilities like a swimming pool, a zip line, a 400 metre running track, a football pitch and a rugby pitch. There's also a "mini island" and river deck.

The new villa has been reported by the Sun. The outlet reports that the estate is being hired by Love Island bosses for around £1.2 million over a five month period.

It reports that it's costing £8,000 a day to rent. Sources told the outlet that it was hired for five months from November, ahead of the new series launching in January.

A source said there will be "revamp and redecoration costs" on top of the rent. It comes after it was previously reported that work was underway at the eco-retreat abroad.

The estate - which reportedly includes 17 bedrooms - features a treehouse and other on-site facilities, including a freshwater dam with "Olympic length" swimming lanes.

The lavish property includes a "manor house" which features its own pool that is set amongst a scenic backdrop. There's plenty of outdoor space and "luxury villas" nearby.

The estate - which features modern interiors - is "off-the-grid". It's said to generate its own electricity with solar panels and has a borehole which provides potable water.

A source told the outlet that it's "a producer's dream". They added: "[It] provides the perfect opportunity for a huge range of activities for the contestants to get stuck into."

And it has been claimed that Casa Amor will be located just a few feet away from the main property. It is usually situated some distance away from the main villa itself.

This could cause drama among the islanders. Teasing about this, a source told the outlet: "If there's any wild partying going on, the main villa may well be able to hear it."
