It was just confirmed that The Grand Tour is making a return after originally coming to an end last year - and it won’t be a long wait to watch the new edition.

β€Œ

The Grand Tour first came out on Amazon Prime Video in 2016, before it ended back in September after two emotional special episodes.

β€Œ

Now, the Top Gear stars will be back on screen again, with a new Prime Video special called The Not Very Grand Tour. The one-off special is set to air next month on Friday, April 18, after being filmed last year.

β€Œ

While Prime is keeping many details of the show a secret until the episode airs, the BBFC says: β€œThe Not Very Grand Tour is a motoring comedy documentary series; in this episode, the team celebrate the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives.”

It also shares that the special is called The Glory and The Power, with director Phil Churchward returning to run the show.

β€Œ

Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond will all feature in the throwback clips, with The Sun reporting that James and Richard will also add brand new commentary while looking back at some of their highlights.

The new episode of The Grand Tour comes after James opened up about how he felt after leaving the show last year, and admitted that he wasn’t as upset as many fans were.

Speaking at Market Place Vauxhall he said: "Nothing will ever be as big as Top Gear and The Grand Tour were, so I'm not full of woe and regret.

β€Œ

"It was time to stop. We are all getting quite old. One or two of us are on the brink of death, and I hope we left on a high note with people wanting more, because that's what you're supposed to do in show business. So, I'm not depressed about it. It's a time for reflection, a reflection usually leads to another gin."

Despite saying that he wanted to end things β€œon a high note,” James and Richard seemed more than happy to look back at their time together as they reunited at the Top Gear set this month.

James shared the reunion on his YouTube channel, titling the video β€˜Hammond and May FINALLY Return to Top Gear HQ.’

The star jokingly added in the video’s description: β€œFor reasons that are still unclear, Richard Hammond and I decided to revisit the old Top Gear office – the place where we spent an alarming number of years faffing about in the name of car-based television. It's been nearly a decade since we were last here, although now it feels like yesterday."
