Eamonn Holmes issued an apology to GB News viewers during a live broadcast this morning, Wednesday 7 January, while joined by his co-presenter Ellie Costello on their breakfast show.

The former This Morning host, 66, has been fronting the early morning programme since 2022, and is no stranger to controversy, having been forced to apologise after outrage over a comment made towards Kerry Katona in August last year.

On today’s show, Eamonn and Ellie concluded their interview with local transport minister Lillian Greenwood when he addressed the audience after being informed of “bad language”.

He said: “Not from [Lillian], but apparently there may have been some bad language.

“It's like being 15 again, being told off. I'm not sure what the bad language was but no one meant to cause any offence.

“If it was me, I certainly didn't mean to cause any offence.

“If you're locked up in a room now, shivering away having heard bad language while your child should have been at school, but watching it and offended - so humbly sorry.”

Ellie echoed: “We do apologise.”

The comment he appeared to be referring to had come from Eamonn himself earlier in the show, during a discussion about Donald Trump and NATO.

He stated that the President of the United States is “an easy man to irritate” and that he’d like to “annoy him”, to which political commentator Olivia Utley replied: “I was going to say Eamonn, it sounds as though you would be well suited to sitting at the Cabinet table with Keir Starmer.”

Eamonn then said, referring to Trump: “Oh the b******t from him, he thinks he scares people, shouts at people, they buckle over him whatever it is. I think the thing about him is just to laugh at him.”

This comes months after Eamonn was forced to apologise for a comment he made while describing Kerry Katona ’s cosmetic surgery during a live GB News interview.

The former Atomic Kitten star had been talking about beauty standards and showed off the results of her facelift, with Eamonn asking whether she looked “Oriental”.

He later apologised, though seemed reluctant to do so, saying: “Apparently you’re not allowed to describe someone as looking oriental or… I don’t know how I would end up describing Kerry Katona if her eyes change shape.

“I don’t know how I’m going to say does she look like someone from some other country in the eastern of the world … The world is ridiculous.

“How you have to apologise for people… if she painted herself or… I don’t know I can’t get into this. But anyway.”

Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie airs from 6am on GB News
