Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise stars Sally Bretton and Kris Marshall appear to have accidentally revealed a major spoiler for the forthcoming Christmas special.

Sally, who portrays Martha Lloyd in the BBC drama, seemingly confirmed that her character is orchestrating a surprise wedding for Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall).

The pair have made three previous attempts to tie the knot throughout the series, leaving viewers devastated when they cancelled their most recent nuptials. But during a recent This Morning appearance, Sally and Kris dropped hints about what lies ahead for their characters.

Host Alison Hammond kicked things off by asking: "It looks so lovely. It's a Christmas special, and I think what's so great about this show is that it balances comedy and real emotion. But how does this Christmas special push Humphrey and Martha? Does it push them in a different direction? Are we going to get a wedding? What's happening?"

Both Kris and Sally appeared uncertain before Kris eventually offered a coy: "Maybe."

Co-host Ben then pressed: "I mean, how many times have you tried? three?" reports the Express.

"Yeah, we've tried three, I think," Sally confirmed, with Kris adding, "Sally's character, Martha, is an amazing chef and entrepreneur, and yet together, they just seem to sort of not get stuff done. They're quirky like that."

When Ben probed whether the wedding would actually proceed this time, Sally appeared to accidentally reveal: "Well, she's planning it.

"She's going to make a grand gesture for him just to celebrate that their relationship is the most important thing in their lives, and so she just wants to grab it and throw sort of sparkle, light, and joy around it," she revealed.

"But we will see," the actress added with intrigue.

The actor who plays Humphrey Goodman chimed in, "I think she knows that if things go wrong, it's often him. He gets in the way. So if she surprises him, there's not a lot he can do to mess it up."

He elaborated, "The show is, you know, it's not just a potential wedding, it's three very festive mysteries and wonderful guest stars.

"James Lance from Ted Lasso, and Johnny Weldon, who you saw in a clip, and Ade Edmondson, who is wonderful. And we have two very special guests. One is inside a snowman who is found sleeping in a skip.

"And the other is an extremely special guest whom I cannot mention," he teased.

Ben continued, "There is a lovely moment because we've been able to see it. There's a lovely moment when that guest turns up, and it's a real, it's sort of like a colliding of history, yeah, particularly for Humphrey."

This Morning broadcasts weekdays at 10am on ITV.
