BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty issued a warning as she shared devastating news on Saturday (November 15).
During this morning's edition of the popular breakfast programme, Naga and her co-presenter Charlie Stayt brought viewers up to speed on the latest developments from across the UK and internationally.
They were accompanied in the studio by Mike Bushell, who fronted the sports coverage, whilst Sarah Keith-Lucas provided regular weather bulletins throughout the broadcast.
Just moments into the programme, Naga revealed that Britons have been urged to brace themselves for cold conditions next week following torrential rain and flooding brought by Storm Claudia on Friday.
"The fallout from Storm Claudia is expected to continue into the weekend with more heavy rain and flooding forecast for much of England and Wales," she said, reports the Express.
"A severe amber warning for rain was in place until the early hours, with some areas seeing one months worth of rainfall in a day."
A pre-recorded segment was then broadcast, with BBC correspondent Barry Caffrey detailing the disruption that Storm Claudia has caused. Footage of vehicles submerged beneath water and residents wading through the floodwater were shown during the report.
"While the yellow and amber weather warnings officially came to an end at six o'clock this morning, more rain is expected today," Barry stated.
"And there's a warning of travel disruption. National Rail says delays and cancellations are expected across the weekend."
He added: "The Environment Agency said ongoing flooding was likely to continue, and while the rain warnings have come to an end, a yellow cold health alert has been issued for next week for the Midlands and large parts of the North of England."
Naga then spoke to Barry, who was reporting live from Euston Station in London, which is expected to face major travel disruptions this weekend.
The presenter revealed: "London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Railway are all experiencing disruption. There's huge disruption on Great Western Railway. There's flooding just outside Exeter St Davids, and the line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway, as well as the line between Bath Spa and Chippenham.
"We're also expecting some disruption to services in Wales and also the TransPennine Express and various northern services too."
Barry explained that "speed restrictions" would inevitably lead to huge delays, as well as debris and trees falling on some of the rail lines.
Barry then issued a warning to viewers, urging them to "be prepared" for delays and cancellations, and to check with their railway provider before travelling.
