BBC The One Show presenter Alex Jones delivered an important announcement for viewers as Wednesday's programme came to a close on December 17.
Alex was presenting alongside Clara Amfo when the duo had been speaking with Tess Daly about her final-ever Strictly Come Dancing appearance this weekend, as well as musician Tom Fletcher and his son Buzz discussing their newest musical venture.
The show had also welcomed presenter Matt Allwright for a special Watchdog consumer segment.
However, as the broadcast neared its conclusion, Alex informed audiences that The One Show would be absent from the BBC lineup on Thursday, December 18, despite typically airing every weeknight at 7pm.
She explained: "We're not on tomorrow because it's BBC Sports Personality of the Year but we're back on Friday for our last show of 2025," reports Wales Online.
Clara revealed that Friday's programme would feature an interview with Gladiators star Bradley Walsh alongside live performances from Olly Murs.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year will air on Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, showcasing several prominent sporting figures competing for the 2025 title, including newly-crowned F1 world champion Lando Norris, The Masters victor Rory McIlroy, Lioness Chloe Kelly, and darts phenomenon Luke Littler.
Hosts Clare Balding, Gabby Logan, and I'm a Celebrity's Alex Scott will unite for the yearly sporting extravaganza.
Although The One Show returns on Friday, it marks the programme's final broadcast of 2025 before taking a break over Christmas and the New Year period.
On Wednesday's episode, Tess expressed her emotional state as she prepared to say goodbye to Strictly alongside Claudia Winkleman, after a 21-year stint as co-host.
She described the Strictly team as being "like a family" and highlighted that one of the most rewarding aspects of the dance series was contributing to a show that brought so much happiness to its viewers.
The Strictly final, set for Saturday, December 20, will see three contestants vying for the coveted glitterball trophy - Welsh West End sensation Amber Davies, popular YouTuber George Clarke, and ex-footballer Karen Carney.
The One Show returns to BBC One on Friday, December 19 at 7pm for the final show of 2025
