The beloved Christmas classic Love Actually shares a connection with the Amazon sensation, The Summer I Turned Pretty. The 2003 romantic comedy film was written and directed by the legendary Richard Curtis, who is renowned for some of the most beloved comedies to dominate our screens.
Curtis, 69, is the creative genius behind such hits as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, the film adaptation of Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary, About Time, and many more.
This writer and director also co-wrote the sitcoms Blackadder, Mr Bean and The Vicar of Dibley.
Love Actually is a staple every Christmas, with many people tuning in to re-watch as 10 different love stories intertwine in various ways. All the characters share a connection, whether it's significant or relatively subtle.
The film's cast boasts big names including Keira Knightley, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and many more.
It kicks off six weeks before Christmas and then counts down until the big day, wrapping up with an epilogue that takes place in the new year.
The film has a cult following but remains divisive among some fans and critics.
It also shares a close link to the Amazon hit, The Summer I Turned Pretty, which took over social media after the release of its third season.
Premiering in July, weekly episodes thrilled fans in the run up to its conclusion on September 17, 2025.
Based on the book trilogy by author Jenny Han, the romantic drama explores the complex love triangle between protagonist Isabel 'Belly' Conklin and the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah.
A feature film received the green light on the very day the final episode of the third season dropped, promising to deliver a satisfying ending to the tale.
Han will pen the Amazon Prime film alongside co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka.
Author and screenwriter Scarlett Curtis, 30, has written for the popular show - and she's Richard Curtis's daughter. Despite this, she has established a distinguished writing career in her own right.
Scarlett began as a blogger before penning pieces for The Guardian, The Times, Elle magazine and The Telegraph.
She's also contributed to the Universal Television/Amazon Studios production, We Were Liars, which is similarly adapted from a novel.
Taking to Instagram, Scarlett posted footage of a scene she wrote for The Summer I Turned Pretty, commenting: "Despite having written on this show... I'm still ultimately just the biggest fan girl.
"I learnt more from watching Jenny Han [author, screenwriter, producer] work than I will ever, EVER be able to put into words. This show is a masterpiece and we are so lucky to have it.
"I wrote this scene for season 2 and it's probably the piece of work I'm most proud of ever. Team Steven and Team Panic Attack forever baby."
In the comments section, fans expressed their opinions.
Former You actress Tilly Keeper remarked: "this show is my new obsession".
One admirer said: "One of the best scenes of the show".
Another wrote: "Obsessed with this show – it's my nightly treat after the kids are in bed. So tell me @scarcurtis... Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah?"
Someone else added: "One of my favourite scenes! Such lovely writing".
