The Bear season 3 divides fans after dramatic start - as some slam it 'monotonous' - The Mirror

The Bear season 3 has finally dropped on Disney+ and fans have been quick to share their thoughts on the award-winning comedy - and it seems they're divided

Disney+ has welcomed back The Bear for its eagerly awaited third season, but the award-winning comedy seems to have divided fans. After a dramatic first episode, some viewers have labelled the rest of the series 'monotonous and tiresome.'

The FX show, which was released earlier than expected this Thursday, features Jeremy Allen White in the role of chef Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto. It chronicles his kitchen staff's journey as they strive to launch a new restaurant in Chicago.

The cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri and Molly Gordon, with Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas, Matty Matheson and Oliver Platt completing the ensemble, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Since its debut in 2022, The Bear has enjoyed a successful awards streak, bagging 10 Emmys and four Golden Globes for its inaugural season. It also earned the title of AFI Television Program of the Year for two consecutive years, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In the latest season, Carmy's alliance with Sydney and his bond with cousin Richie will be put to the test as his personal life spills over into his professional one. In the last season, Carmy reignited a relationship with childhood friend Claire, but their romance was strained by the pressures of the restaurant launch.

A number of keen fans have already devoured all 10 episodes of The Bear's third season. Many took to social media to share their thoughts.

The opening episode received high praise from fans, with some describing it as 'a literal art piece'. Social media was flooded with reactions to the season three premiere, with @mylesmendoza69 posting on X, formerly known as Twitter: "The season three premiere of The Bear is some damn good storytelling" Meanwhile, @jaxelburgh was in awe, tweeting: "The season 3 premiere of #TheBear was a literal art piece. That score; that editing; those stunning visuals; those emotional gut punches. It's simply a perfect episode of television."

@NaikaVideo wasn't shy about their praise, saying: "I don't think I'm being hyperbolic if I say that Episode 1 of THE BEAR, Season 3 was one of the best things I've experienced in a while when it comes to television" and @holly4brav0 was equally enthusiastic, declaring it "the best first episode of any show ever. i was worried season 3 wouldn't be as good but this is truly a work of art. #TheBear".

However, not everyone was thrilled with the subsequent episodes. Some viewers criticized them as 'filler', with @CautiouslyGood commenting: "After a freight train of a first episode, the rest of #TheBear season three was monotonous and tiresome. They spent too much time waffling on extra content and failed to culminate any of the themes they had been building."

@stumphomatic felt let down, admitting: "season three of the bear kind of felt like a filler episode that lasted ten episodes. a whole filler season..." and @parkersrina added: "so i don't necessarily think s3 of the bear is horrible. there were some good episodes (only three) but the whole season just felt like a filler season".

The Bear season three is available to stream now on Disney+.
