Virgin Media offers you more TV channels for free and here's what's new - The Mirror

Virgin Media is back with another free TV upgrade, which includes two bonus channels.

Just in time for the Christmas telly binge, there's a nice added bonus for anyone with access to Virgin Media TV. The telecoms firm has just announced that it's launching two new channels, and both will be completely free to watch. The so-called FAST channels - which include Stingray Classica (Ch296) and Stingray DJAZZ (Ch297) - offer access to musical programming including world premieres, concerts, films and artist interviews. They are even broadcast throughout the day and night so there will be something to watch whatever time you pop on the TV.

Stingray Classica (Ch296): This service is dedicated to classical music, opera, and ballet. Virgin says that for classical music experts or newcomers to the genre, there is something to suit everyone. Including 50 world premieres a year, recorded at renowned concert halls, festivals and opera houses. The channel also features high-quality documentaries, exclusive classical music programming, and weekly premieres.

Stingray DJAZZ (Ch297): Customers can experience jazz concerts, films, portraits, and documentaries from various venues and festivals. DJAZZ also presents artist profiles, interviews, and backstage reports.

These two music platforms now join Virgin's existing 32 FAST channels, which are already available to view. These include British Screen Classics, U&Transport, Inside Crime and Haunt TV. All can be found on the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) via Virgin's set-top boxes and come as part of the company’s expanding FAST channel offering.

Speaking about the update, David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “We are launching two brand new FAST channels to give our customers even more of the best entertainment Virgin TV has to offer. We’re always looking to offer our customers handpicked channels to broaden our offering which is why we’ve added two more to the mix.
