Andy Murray is putting the final touches to his Wimbledon preparation ahead of his first-round Battle of the Brits showdown with Liam Broady.

β€Œ

The Scot faces a British player for the third time in a little over a week after defeating Aljaz Bedene and then Kyle Edmund at the Aegon Championships at Queen's.

Murray is bidding to win his first Wimbledon title in three years at SW19 over the next fortnight and faces a run to the final which includes Stan Wawrinka in the semis.

β€Œ

Murray is hoping to continue playing until his baby daughter Sophia grows up and can watch him win championship titles.

But he insists he won’t mind if four-month-old Sophia grows up to β€œhate” the sport.

β€œIt would be nice so she knows what it is that you’ve done or is maybe old enough to understand what it is that you do,” he said.

β€Œ

β€œAs I start to get older that might be more of a motivation to keep going and training and working hard to stay at the top.

β€œAnd I think as you start to get older, I think you want to make sure that you make the most of every event that you play. You do appreciate it more than when we’re young.”

Time does fly and it is now three years since Murray won Wimbledon – his second and last Grand Slam triumph.

β€Œ

β€œI think I am a better player than when I won in 2013 - I think I’ve improved things since then,” he claimed. β€œAnd now I am in a good place physically.”

Murray enters his home Grand Slam in a good place generally with two titles and two finals in his last four events – including his win at Queen’s Club - and the return of coach Ivan Lendl.

He has lost his last three Grand Slam finals to Novak Djokovic but he said: β€œI have been close a few times and not got it. But I keep giving myself chances, I keep coming back to try and do it.

"I still want it, the character is still there to win the Major events. I will stop when I don’t think that I can or if I am not working hard or not motivated by those tournaments.

"I am pumped for Wimbledon, I have got a good chance.”
