On Saturday though he swapped snooker for pool to take on one of his three sons in a best of nine frames grudge match. Revealing the challenge on Twitter, Williams also outlined what was at stake for both.

The three-time world champion revealed if his son was to win then he would treat him to to a moped, as well as being able to leave school early.

For Williams, a victory would mean his youngster would get his hands dirty and clean his dad's car. He posted: "This is serious now. Best of 9 if my boy beats me he gets a moped and can leave school early. If I win he cleans my car. I'm safe don't worry. Let's go."

After announcing the battle on social media, Williams went on to live tweet his family affair. While the snooker star took a 1-0 lead, he was left shocked when his son levelled things up at one-apiece, tweeting: "He broke and dished 1-1 ffs."

Dad's dominance then began to show though, as he told his 135,000 followers: "4-1 up get to school on Monday cmon one more." He then capped off a ruthless victory a frame later, and had a timely reminder for his son.

Confirming his win in his latest tweet, Williams posted: "5-1 bosssh see yaaa kid, here's the rag." As shown by his Saturday afternoon live tweeting, the 47-year-old is more than happy to let his fans and followers into his personal life.

Williams may however have given some too much information following his exit from UK Championship two weeks ago. The Welshman was defeated 6-3 by Jamie Rhys Clarke, and just five minutes in he was seen dashing from the table to the bathroom.

Afterwards Williams admitted he was struggling with an upset stomach, and gruesomely told his followers: "Day 5. Still coming out of me like if you're emptying an old radiator." His tweet came after he had already revealed: "It must be [food poisoning].

"I went out there with a pair of boxers on, by frame three they were gone, that’s all I can say really. If it wasn’t the UK Championships I’m not sure I’d have come back out after the interval, to be honest."
