Tom Brady has shared a rarely seen picture of himself with ex Bridget Moynahan after announcing his NFL retirement after 23 seasons.

The 45-year-old announced his retirement during a 52-second social media video on Wednesday which included a thanks to his family, friends, team-mates and competitors.

On his Instagram reel Brady then posted a large selection of pictures of those that had helped him during his career. This included a rarely seen loving picture with ex-girlfriend Moynahan, 51 and their 15-year-old son Jack.

Jack is pictured in the middle of his parents with his arms around them both in the loving family snap. Brady dated actress and model Moynahan for two years between 2004 and 2006.

It was only after they split and the NFL star was dating wife-to-be Gisele Bundchen that his ex found out she was pregnant with Jack.

Brady and supermodel Bundchen were married in 2009 and had two children together, Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10 - who both also appeared in Brady's Instagram reel. After 13 years of marriage to Bundchen the pair announced that they were getting divorced last year.

In Bundchen's 2018 book, she spoke about when the pair discovered that Brady's ex Moynahan was pregnant.

She said: "Two months into our relationship, Tom told me that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant. The very next day, the news was everywhere and I felt my world had been turned upside down."

However, she then wrote about her love for step-son Jack, who is two years older than her own child Benjamin. She added: "He made my heart expand in ways I didn’t know was possible."

Brady's retirement came exactly a year after the NFL star previously announced he was leaving the sport - before reversing his decision 40 days later and re-signing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This time the 45-year-old says that his retirement is 'for good', ending a career that spanned two decades firstly with the New England Patriots and then the Bucs.

His retirement decision came as a shock to NFL fans after Brady had previously spoken of his wish to carry on playing, but expert Bill Simmons believes the star might have '"ran out of options" to continue his playing career.
