Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler suffered a horrific injury during his NBA playoffs clash against the Houston Rockets last night.

The basketball legend was left out of the final three quarters of the tie after a heavy fall when the Warriors were losing 22-15. He collided with Rockets rookie Amen Thompson while diving for the ball, leaving the 35-year-old to land right on the bottom of his back. He was immediately seen writhing in desperate pain while rolling on the floor before being helped off to the locker room. The Warriors later announced he wouldn't be making a comeback that game.

Medical teams are currently assessing the severity of Butler's condition, with worries about a potential coccyx (tailbone) fracture or contusion, alongside other possible injuries to the sacrum or pelvis. X-rays and additional scans are expected to provide a clearer picture regarding any bone damage.
βJimmy always says heβs going to be fine,β said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. βBut we have to wait and see with the MRI.β The Warriors have been dealt a significant blow with the loss of Butler, who is known for his veteran leadership and defensive skills. His availability for future matches remains in doubt as he awaits medical evaluation.

Butler's injury adds to a growing list of concerns as just a day prior, Lakers' Rui Hachimura was hailed a "warrior" for ditching a protective mask, while Kristaps Porzingis suffered a bloody injury shortly before Butler's fall, even as the Boston Celtics secured a 2-0 lead against the Orlando Magic.
In response to Butler's absence, the Warriors will need to rejig their player rotation. Head coach Steve Kerr has chosen to bring Jonathan Kuminga back into the squad after a string of games on the bench.
β
Gui Santos, Pat Spencer and Gary Payton II could see more game time as the team attempts to fill the gap left by Butler's injury. The coaching staff will likely stress the importance of a team effort to maintain defensive strength and offensive productivity.
Butler's leadership, experience and ability to make shots in the half court are priceless, particularly during the high-stakes atmosphere of the playoffs. Without the 35 year old, rival defences will focus all their efforts on Curry, pushing Butler's teammates to rise to the occasion, reports the Mirror US.
As the team waits for more news on Butler's health, both fans and pundits will be keenly observing how the Warriors fare in Game 3 and the subsequent matches.
The Warriors' defeat meant the Rockets levelled the playoff tie at 1-1 after two games, with five still to play. Whoever wins the first round clash would face either the LA Lakers or Miinnesota Timberwolves in the next round.
