Great Britain and Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng was last night named to the Eastern Conference team for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game to be played at the Amway Center in Orlando on February 26.
The former Brixton Topcat, now in his eighth year with the NBA’s league-leading Chicago Bulls, was selected by the NBA coaches as a reserve and will be making his first All-Star appearance.
The 61st annual NBA All-Star Game will air live in the UK on ESPN starting at midnight and will reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories in more than 40 languages.
The Great Britain ace will join the likes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard and fellow Bulls teammate Derrick Rose at the NBA’s showpiece midseason event.
“Words can’t describe how happy I am to make my first All-Star," said Deng.
"Thanks to all my supporters and the coaches who voted for me.
"It really is such a honour, to be a part of it, to say you are an All-Star.
"I am excited to get to Orlando and soak up the atmosphere, it really is a huge honour”
