COOLAGH MAGIC is fancied to make the most of a return to the all-weather to lift the Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap (3.29). Robyn Brisland’s six-year-old has yet to hit the bullseye in 15 attempts on turf but has a much more respectable strike-rate of 4-19 on artificial surfaces. Two starts ago, Coolagh Magic was nailed close home by Ramdon Rocks over six furlongs at Lingfield before a below-par sixth on soft ground at Chepstow three weeks ago. My selection steps back to the minimum trip here but has scored over five furlongs in the past and his British Horseracing Authority handicap mark of 57 looks within range.
Earlier on the same card, APPIER gets the vote to follow up a last-time-out score at Newcastle by beating eight opponents for the Download The At The Races App Handicap (1.44). The Sean Woods-saddled son of Holy Roman Emperor was racing up his second all-weather success from three attempts when accounting for Melburnian by half a length at Gosforth Park at the beginning of the month. The handicapper has reacted to that effort with a 4lb rise in the weights. But Appier has further improvement to come on his fourth outing on the surface and can win again.
