Go Big in the Commonwealth Cup. This Group 1 for three-year-old speedsters is often won by a future star sprinter. BIG MOJO (3.05) certainly has the ability to fit into that bracket. He was a smart juvenile last season, winning the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood on just his second start.

Although he didn’t add to his tally later in the season, he ran some cracking races, including when a close fourth at the Breeders’ Cup. Mick Appleby’s star kicked off this season with victory over today’ course and distance in April. His subsequent fourth in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes gives him ground to make up on both Symbol Of Honour and Arabian Dusk but he didn’t see much daylight until later than ideal.

The faster ground and return to Ascot will also help. Have 2pts each-way at 18-1. A couple of bookies are paying out on five places.

CHANTILLY LACE (4.20) ran an extremely-creditable race to finish fifth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket early last month. To finish upsides subsequent Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Lake Victoria while looking in need of the of the run was a smashing effort.

That was just her second career start and her first of the season. It should have put the edge on her for the Coronation Stakes. Last season’s debut win came on heavy ground at Salisbury but she looks much more at home on a quick surface. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1.

BETTY CLOVER (5.00) had plenty of classy form over sprint distances as a juvenile last season and she has improved since stepping up to a mile this year. Her nose second behind Crimson Advocate at Goodwood last month looks good form after the winner followed up in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes on Wednesday.

Eve Johnson Houghton’s filly went on to finish third in a French Group 2 three weeks ago and now she drops into a handicap for the first time. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Sky Bet is offering seven places.

REDORANGE (6.10) has stacks of speed and he should put that to good use in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes.

He stepped up on his promising Sandown comeback to beat Ruby’s Profit around Chester’s turns and he is progressive. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1. Sky Bet is going seven places.
