Top jockey Hollie Doyle has hit another major milestone. The record-breaking female jockey, who has ridden 39 Group and Listed winners, rode her 1,000th winner worldwide in September last year.

On Monday she rode her 1,000th victory in Britain when she steered Handle With Care to victory on the all-weather at Lingfield. The in demand Doyle, 28, spends a substantial part of the winter riding overseas. Last November she rode at the Breeders' Cup in the US before going to Australia to ride in the Melbourne Cup.

This winter she rode in Japan until the start of the year with husband Tom Marquand.

Success on the Marco Botti-trained 4-1 chance in a handicap at Lingfield took her score for 2025 to 15.

She told Sky Sports Racing, “I’m delighted to have got that done. It’s a nice milestone and hopefully there is another thousand under the bonnet somewhere.

“I’ve had so much support over the years. So many people have been loyal to me, especially Archie [Watson]. Since I joined him my career’s really taken off. Marco today has been a big supporter of me for a long time.

“It’s crazy. I struggle to believe some of the things I’ve achieved and I'm pretty sure a lot other people do as well. It’s amazing.”

Doyle rode 126 winners in Britain in 2024 and finished in seventh place in the Flat jockeys’ championship.

Her big race successes included two Group 1 wins on top sprinter Bradsell in the Nunthorpe Stakes and Flying Five.

Doyle joins Hayley Turner who rode her 1,000th domestic winner at Yarmouth last year, a feat she achieved 24 years after starting her career in the saddle.

Doyle is now only 21 winners behind pioneer Turner who was the first of her sex to ride 100 winners in a year and claim outright victory in a Group 1 race.
