Wigan boss Uwe Rosler has called off a pre-season game in Germany – because he is running out of players.

The Latics made the decision to cancel against SC Wiedenbruck on Tuesday, despite fans travelling for a three-match trip.

β€Œ

Rosler has seen his squad hit by injuries and he has failed to bring in as many new players as he wanted.

β€Œ

He explained: β€œWe came to the decision as the match will stretch the squad.

β€œThe plan was to rotate the players for the second game and allow the whole squad to get an equal amount of match minutes.

β€œBut circumstances this summer have meant that we already used a number of players for all the games.

β€œI felt the risk was too high to lose a player for the beginning of the season.”

Rosler claimed his squad was at crisis point a fortnight ago and the loan signing of Manchester City midfielder Emyr Huws is his only addition since.
