Ruben Amorim on Marcus Rashford's future

By

  • Updated22:18, 26 Dec 2024

Premier League teams now have just days to wait before the January transfer window.

Manchester United are expected to be active, though the Red Devils could see more outgoings than incomings. Marcus Rashford could be the biggest name on the move with United happy to sell, but with defeat to Wolves, the pressure is on Ruben Amorim to improve his side.

Elsewhere, Liverpool will be hoping their big-name trio of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all stay put long-term given their contracts are up in the summer. They are, of course, free to negotiate with overseas clubs from next week, and the Reds' attention will be on their stars in the next days and weeks.

Bukayo Saka's injury at Crystal Palace could force Arsenal into the market. They kept their powder dry in the summer when it came to signing a new forward and could be the team to watch in the January sales.

Matheus Cunha was in goalscoring form for Wolves against United and has interested Arsenal. Prising the striker away will be difficult with the Midlands side keen to utilise his talents in their battle for Premeir League survival.

He said: "If he's not here… you can make your mind up. It's always the same reason. We have to be same professionals, same guys, winning or losing. Losing, I have to be stronger. I will continue with my idea until the end."

By Dan Marsh

Anfield legend Ian Rush insisted Mohamed Salah has no need to consider following in his footsteps by leaving Liverpool.

Rush knows all about departing the Reds having done so twice in his career. His first exit in 1987 was short and sweet, returning to Merseyside after a solitary season at Juventus having felt homesick.

By the time he left for Leeds in 1996, the now 63-year-old was firmly an icon as the club's all-time top scorer. But while Salah has achieved the same sort of status in the last seven-and-a-half years, he doesn't think there's a need to do the same as him.
