Liverpool are one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the January transfer window - but their focus is different to others.
Arne Slot's side are trying to keep star trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. They are confident of keeping the latter two and have now officially made an offer to Alexander-Arnold to rival the attention from Real Madrid.
Manchester United are in desperate need of reinforcements after four straight losses, but may need to offload Marcus Rashford first before they can land any deals. Joshua Zirkzee, Casemiro and Diogo Dalot are among the others who have been linked with moves elsewhere this month, but Mirror Football understands Viktor Gyokeres will not be moving to Old Trafford.
Arsenal want reinforcements in forward areas following the injury to Bukayo Saka, while Tottenham are strengthening at the back after a dreadful run of form.

21:29 - Carragher questions Trent bid
Jamie Carragher has criticised the ongoing Trent Alexander-Arnold saga following Liverpool's draw with Manchester United.
The right-back struggled in Sunday's match, which finished 2-2, and Carragher told Sky Sports in the aftermath: "There's some frustration from Liverpool supporters [Alexander-Arnold] could leave for free - he came for free, I've got no problem with that. It's his choice.
"When I'm talking about Trent, I'm disappointed with the Real Madrid stuff coming out and that being the focus before a big game, because the most important thing is Liverpool winning the game."
20:17 - Rashford transfer preference emerges
Marcus Rashford would prefer to move to a Spanish club, despite interest from AC Milan (see 6.17 post).
Manchester United have set a £40million asking price for Rashford, who has ruled out a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia. His £325,000-a-week wages and long contract are causing United a headache.
The Daily Mail says that Rashford would prefer a move to La Liga, but that is unlikely to be possible until the summer. A stalemate could be the result this month.
19:12 - Gills appoint Coleman
Well, that was quick!
Gillingham have confirmed that former Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman will succeed Mark Bonner at the helm.
Coleman joins on a deal which runs until the end of the season.
18:40 - Gillingham sack Bonner
Gillingham have parted company with manager Mark Bonner, the League Two club have confirmed.
In a statement, Managing Director, Joe Comper said: "Mark is a top guy, a top professional and has given absolutely everything he could have given to help the club succeed.
"We liked him from the moment we met him, and we still do, which makes this decision even tougher."
17:39 - Liverpool fans urge club to offer Salah and Co new deal
Mohamed Salah's future continues to dominate headlines around Liverpool and the Egyptian is no closer to reaching a resolution on his future.
As things stand, the club's brilliant talisman will be a free agent in the summer after claiming he was "far away" from agreeing new terms.
But supporters made it clear they want him to stay, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as they unfurled a banner that read "Give Mo and Co their dough" before their clash against Manchester United
16:43 - DONE DEAL! Ipswich sign Godfrey on loan
Here's a deal that Ipswich definitely needed to aid their relegation fight.
Former Everton defender Ben Godfrey has linked up with the Tractor Boys on loan from Serie A outfit Atalanta, where he had fallen out of favour.
Godfrey was linked with a number of English club this month - including Tottenham - but Kieran McKenna's men have pounced secure what looks like a crucial signing.
16:00 - Could Chilwell solve Man Utd's left-back problems?
Ben Chilwell has been cast aside by Chelsea and his future looks bleak under Enzo Maresca - after previously being linked with a move to Manchester United.
It has now emerged that Chelsea are open to selling the England international this month, and with United struggling at left-back after recent injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Chilwell could be the perfect option for Ruben Amorim.

Manchester City are stepping up efforts to recruit a new centre-back after seeing an injury crisis at the back this season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola's men have opened discussions with Lens over their centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov.
The transfer guru said both sides were now waiting for the next steps amid interest from other clubs in the Uzbekistan international.
13:26 - Garnacho deletes his Twitter account
Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has mysteriously deleted his Twitter account ahead of the club's clash against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Argentine has been on the bench for the last four games after reportedly falling out with boss Ruben Amorim - and he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
The player's Instagram page was later updated to read "No Twitter" after fans questioned why he had deactivated his account on the social media platform.
12:43 - 'Amorim should make Rashford U-turn'
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has urged Ruben Amorim to make a U-turn and bring Marcus Rashford back into the first team fold.
"I want to see Marcus Rashford stay at Manchester United," he told The Sports Daily. "It’s been a tough time for him but he’s back in the squad and I think with a few changes it could improve. Everything he does is so highly publicised, these things happen at all clubs but people care more because he is a local boy and is always in the limelight."
12:00 - Lampard wants ex-Arsenal star
Frank Lampard wants to try and sign former Arsenal defender Rob Holding for Coventry City, The Sun reports.
Holding has been frozen out at Crystal Palace, with Oliver Glasner demoting him to train with the youth team.
Lampard wants to sign the 29-year-old defender on loan until the end of the season.
11:33 - Windass wanted by Brazilian giants
Former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is eyeing a reunion with forward Josh Windass.
Windass, son of Hull icon Dean, played under the Portuguese at Ibrox and Caixinha has remained an admirer. Argentine side Telleres made an approach to Sheffield Wednesday when Caixinha was in their dugout in 2022.
Now in charge of Brazilian giants Santos, Caixinha again wants to take the 30-year-old to South America. Windass has been in red-hot form for the Owls, scoring in each of his last five outings prior to Saturday's 2-2 draw against Millwall, including a wonder goal from inside his own half against Derby on New Year's Day.
But he won't come cheap after penning fresh terms at Hillsborough in the summer having been close to joining Championship rivals West Brom.
11:10 - Rashford holding out for Spain
Marcus Rashford would prefer to move to a Spanish club, despite interest from AC Milan (see 6.17 post).
Manchester United have set a £40million asking price for Rashford, who has ruled out a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia. His £325,000-a-week wages and long contract are causing United a headache.
The Daily Mail says that Rashford would prefer a move to La Liga, but that is unlikely to be possible until the summer. A stalemate could be the result this month.

Getty Images)10:33 - Spurs to send youngster on loan
Tottenham are set to send highly-regarded midfielder Tyrese Hall out on loan this month, writes Charlie Gordon.
The 19-year-old has scored three goals and set up two more in Premier League 2, with club bosses eager to test him at senior level. Spurs will be selective about where Hall ends up as they want him to get regular minutes for a second or third-tier team with a familiar playing style.
His exit will not be rushed and interested parties may have to wait until the latter stages of the window to get it done.
Hall signed a mega five-year contract at Tottenham last May but he has not had a sniff of first-team action under Ange Postecoglou this campaign.
10:11 - Forest's January target
Nottingham Forest have identified Anderlecht defender Moussa N'Diaye as a January target.
The 22-year-old Senegalese starlet made his name for Barcelona B before moving to Belgium in 2022. N'Diaye's versatility is understood to be of great appeal to Forest as he can play at both left-back and centre-back in multiple systems.
However, his dream is to return to Spain should the opportunity arise, though he is unlikely to balk at the chance to move to the Premier League.
He recently confirmed discussions are taking place over his future, stating: "There are talks, but I leave that to my agent. I remain focused on my performance. I love the Spanish league. My dream is to return."
Anderlecht do not want to lose the player mid-season but they could prove powerless if a suitable offer lands on the table this month.
09:48 - Iheanacho could be on the move
Kelechi Iheanacho has been made available by Sevilla and English clubs are on high alert, writes Charlie Gordon.
The former Manchester City striker joined the Spanish outfit for free in July after his Leicester contract expired. But the move has not worked out, with Iheanacho failing to register a goal or an assist in nine La Liga appearances this season.
The 28-year-old signed a two-year contract but Sevilla are already looking for a way out this winter as they search for a loan exit with an option to buy.
English clubs have made enquiries for Iheanacho, who has admirers in Greece, Turkey and the USA. Egyptian giants Al Ahly are also in the hunt.

Kinsky, a 21-year-old goalkeeper, has joined on a deal until 2031 and will help ease the burden in the position.

Tottenham Hotspur)08:53 - De Bruyne blunt on new Man City deal
Kevin De Bruyne brushed away a question about his future at Manchester City after the win over West Ham yesterday.
De Bruyne's current deal expires at the end of the season, but the 33-year-old wasn't in the mood to discuss his plans.
"I don't care," he said when asked. “I am just trying to get back to my level. I feel like every week I'm getting better. Fitness wise I'm getting better and able to run 90 minutes now."

Newcastle have been dealt a hammer blow in their pursuit of top winger target Johan Bakayoko.
The Belgian attacker is viewed as a dream signing by the Magpies but agent Gerard Witters has revealed his client is going nowhere this month. He said: "Bakayoko will not leave PSV this season, regardless of the amount."
Liverpool and Arsenal are also said to be monitoring the 21-year-old forward, who previously turned down a big-money £45million move to Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal.
Bakayoko was also the subject of a club-record bid from Brentford in August 2023 and has since stated he has no interest in moving to mid-table Premier League side.
08:06 - Chiesa negotiations
Napoli have begun negotiations over a loan deal for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, Foot Mercato reports.
Chiesa has done nothing since joining Liverpool in the summer and could return to Italy on loan until the end of the season.
07:24 - Liverpool star Bajcetic targeted
Real Betis are pondering a bid for Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
The Daily Mail reports that the 20-year-old midfielder could be on the move this month, with a permanent deal or a loan on the table. It remains to be seen whether Arne Slot would sanction a sale.
Bajcetic is currently on loan at Red Bull Salzburg, but despite making 18 appearances this season, it hasn't gone to plan, with ex-Liverpool coach Pep Ljinders sacked. It's understood that the young Spaniard could be interested in a move to his homeland.

Rene Nijhuis/MB Media)06:41 - Maresca hints at defensive signings for Chelsea
Chelsea may look to sign a new defender in the January transfer window.
The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace yesterday, having been forced to field Josh Acheampong at centre-back due to injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana.
“Even if we don’t decide to buy players or sell players because Josh has shown he is good, we already knew Josh was good enough," Enzo Maresca said post-match. "Probably with Wes and Benoit injuries, we will see if something is going to happen [in the transfer market]."

Justin Setterfield)06:17 - Rashford escape route
AC Milan are weighing up a loan offer for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, according to the Daily Mail.
Rashford is keen to leave Old Trafford this month, but his £325,000-a-week wages and United's £40million valuation are making that difficult.
He has snubbed the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia or Turkey, and Milan are reportedly pondering the idea of taking him until the end of the season.

Wolves have agreed a new contract with star striker Matheus Cunha, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Cunha has been in fabulous form this season, contributing 10 goals and four assists in the Premier League and has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.
But the Brazilian has verbally agreed a new deal to stay with Wolves, ending any speculation over his future.

Liverpool have offered Trent Alexander-Arnold a huge £78 million five-year contract to try and keep the England defender out of the clutches of Real Madrid.
There’s a similar £300,000 a week deal on the Bernabeu table for the 26-year-old but in addition he could expect a huge signing on fee from the Spanish giants if he joins in the summer as a free agent.

22:52 - Marmoush latest
Eintracht Frankfurt hot-shot Omar Marmoush won't agitate to leave Eintracht Frankfurt this month.
Manchester City are the latest side to show interest in the red-hot Egyptian attacker while Liverpool and Manchester United have also watched the player closely.
But Marmoush is happy to stay at Frankfurt until at least the end of the season when his future will be reassessed.
He said: "My focus is solely on Eintracht Frankfurt and on being successful here so at the end of the season we can say as a team: 'We have achieved something great'."
It's understood Frankfurt would command a fee upwards of £50million in order to consider a sale.
Arsenal have also been credited as admirers of the 25-year-old, who has 18 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
Nottingham Forest failed with two bids for the versatile forward last summer - the highest of which reached around £25m.
