Manchester United have changed the man in the dugout but Michael Carrick will have to work with the squad he's inherited as the club plan for no arrivals in January

Manchester United have no plans to make any January signings this month despite the change in manager and their questionable form, which has seen their hopes of silverware ended.
Huge investment was made in the summer with more than £200million spent on their frontline, bringing Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all to Old Trafford. That didn't help Ruben Amorim retain his job though and Michael Carrick has now been put in charge.
The new man at the helm will be expected to work with the squad he has inherited in Manchester, reports ESPN, with the club having no desire to dip into the market this month.
United are aware of their need to bolster certain parts of their squad, particularly the centre of midfield, which was a position Amorim wanted to strengthen. None of the team's targets are available currently and the hierarchy do not want to spend money on a short-term solution.
Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Brighton's Carlos Baleba are all on their radar but neither of them will be sold by their clubs in January.

There was a lot of noise around Kobbie Mainoo in recent months given his lack of game time, but he too is expected to remain at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils lost to Brighton in the FA Cup on Sunday, ending their last hope of a trophy. Their recent form has seen them win just once across their last seven games, that coming against Newcastle, but Carrick and his backroom will have to reinvigorate the current crop.
Those in charge at Old Trafford believe with players returning from injury and forwards Mbeumo and Amad Diallo set to be back from their stints at the Africa Cup of Nations that Carrick has enough depth and quality available to him to make something of the second half of the year.
The new man at the helm, who was picked ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been handed a baptism of fire with Manchester City heading to Old Trafford this weekend. After that the Red Devils face another difficult task as they head to league leaders Arsenal.
