Chelsea will pounce to sign Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo if he decideds to leave Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old midfielder enjoyed a remarkable rise in 2023/24 and put in an impressive display in United's draw against Liverpool at the weekend, but has yet to agree to terms over a new deal. The parties are said to be at a stalemate
Mainoo's deal expires in June 2027, but includes the option for a further 12 months. That agreement was signed in 2023 but new terms were planned to recognise the academy player's status as a first-team regular and England international.
The Mail report that Chelsea will look to take advantage of any discord that emerges. The contract deadlock is said to have alerted Europe’s top sides to the fact an exit could be possible this month or at the end of the season.

The west London side have been unafraid to splash the cash on young talent from around the Premier League including the likes of Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer, though Mainoo could prove even more expensive.
United meanwhile are attempting to tighten their purse strings by offloading high-earners such as Casemiro on £375,000-a-week, Marcus Rashford on £315,000 and Antony on £200,000. With the Red Devils' cost-cutting, it is suggested Mainoo could command a greater package away from Old Trafford.
The report adds that Mainoo has concerns over the direction of the club and whether the opportunity of playing Champions League football will be available. Ruben Amorim’s side are sat in 13th position in the Premier League.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Mainoo is not an 'unsellable' member of United's squad. Leny Yoro and Amad Diallo are said to be the only two of Ruben Amorim's players who are currently untouchable.
Mainoo, in addition to Alejandro Garnacho, had previously been deemed unavailable for transfer. The club’s financial issues and need to comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules, sees homegrown players become more sellable assets however and amid issues over Mainoo's contract, United could weigh up a move.
