Orient boss Russell Slade hailed the spirit and resilience of his players after they withstood a spirited Tranmere fightback.
β
First-half goals from Stephen Dawson and Scott McGleish put the Os in control before Scott Wootton got Rovers back in the game.
β
Sladeβs side were then indebted to goalkeeper Jason Brown for ensuring they returned to London with all three points.
β
βIt was a great win. I am really proud of the lads. They dug so deep,β said Slade. βWe were in control until they scored and then we certainly had to hang on a bit.
βThere is a tremendous spirit and resilience within the club. We were out on our feet in the last 10 minutes, but we hung on to get our reward.
βOur keeper made four excellent saves but good keepers do that at crucial times.β
Rovers boss Les Parry felt his side were unlucky to lose, saying: βTheir keeper was inspirational. It was just not our day. But we did not take our chances β that is the bottom line. We did not deserve to lose.β
