Rangers in #4m bid for Celtic target Kyle Lafferty

Rangers are set to make a #4m move for Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty - and beat Celtic to him.

Boss Walter Smith sent No.2 Ally McCoist to watch the youngster play for Northern Ireland and plans to rival Gordon Strachan for his signature.

Smith will offer cash plus squad man Alan Gow at the end of the season if the Clarets are not promoted.
