Iain Dowie is sitting on a goldmine of talent at Loftus Road - and the confident boss predicts it will be the youngsters in his emerging side who deliver the goods.

"We finished the game with five on the pitch under 20," beamed the delighted manager, who singled out Daniel Parejo and Emmanuel Ledesma for special praise.

"They need time to develop, and they are not going to be superstars overnight, but they are good lads with a great future."

Rangers had the points in the bag before the break, but they let Rovers off lightly when they took their foot off the gas in the second half. Dowie, who had urged his side to "get out of the traps quicker" after last week's earlysurrender 3-0 hammering at Sheffield United, got what he asked for.

Just five minutes were on the clock when Parejo whipped in a free-kick and Dexter Blackstock stole in unmarked to steer the ball home from close range.

"For one so young, he's got great talent and an amazing knack of putting the ball where he wants," was Dowie's tribute to Spaniard Parejo.

Rovers' resistance was lacking again when Argentine Ledesma - cut loose by Mikele Leigertwood - had all the time and space he needed to make it 2-0.

Beaten boss Sean O'Driscoll admitted: "We let ourselves down by conceding to two set-pieces."

In the final 20 minutes Dowie was able to bring on skipper Martin Rowlands - back from a three-match ban - and youngster Angelo Balanta.

Balanta had the chance to wrap up victory in style but he sent a rasping shot soaring over the bar.
