The Champions League returned on Tuesday night with a whole host of goals and plenty of new faces in new places.
Wayne Rooney took the limelight at Old Trafford when he netted his 199th and 200th Manchester United goals in a 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Never one to be upstaged, Robin van Persie also netted a superb overhead kick.
United's cross-city rivals also warmed up for Sunday's Manchester derby with an easy win, as they ran out 3-0 winners against Viktoria Plzen .
Gareth Bale was left out of the Real Madrid starting line-up, but came on as a second-half substitute and played a part in two of Madrid six goals as they tore Galatasaray apart.
