Aston Villa will continue earning revenue the further they go in the Europa League this season

Aston Villa are set to continue their Europa League journey on Thursday against Go Ahead Eagles. Unai Emery's squad will target their third consecutive victory in the competition, having previously triumphed over Bologna and Feyenoord.

The victory against Serie A side Bologna marked Villa's first win of the season, and they've since racked up four more wins, with the victory over Feyenoord sandwiched between successes against Fulham and Burnley.

Now, fresh from defeating Tottenham in London on Sunday, the clash with Go Ahead Eagles offers Villa the opportunity to notch up a sixth straight win across all competitions.

Making amends for a shaky start to the season, Villa are also raking in revenue from their Europa League exploits - a competition Emery is keen to win, given his history of lifting the trophy four times with Sevilla and Villarreal.

League phase prize money

Every team that qualifies for the Europa League is guaranteed a cool £3.7 million just for participating.

Each victory in the league phase nets clubs £390,000, while a draw earns them £130,000.

So far, after beating Bologna and Feyenoord, Villa have pocketed £780,000 from their league phase campaign in addition to their participation fee.

If they manage to win all eight matches at this stage of the competition, they could bag up to £3.12 million in match bonuses.

Moreover, clubs finishing in the top eight of the league phase table receive an additional £520,000.

Knockout rounds prize money

Here's a breakdown of the potential earnings for Villa as they advance through the knockout stages:.

Making it to the round of 16: £1.51 million.

Reaching the quarter-finals: £2.17 million.

Getting into the semi-finals: £3.64 million.

Qualifying for the final: £6.07 million.

Emerging as winners: £5.21 million.

Hence, the maximum prize money Villa could pocket from this season's Europa League campaign is roughly £26 million.
