Tottenham Hotspur look to have signed a star in the making when they purchased Cristian Romero from Atalanta in the summer transfer window.


The Argentinian defender has been in great form this season and a former Spurs defender has backed him to be as good as two world-class defenders in Leonardo Bonucci or Giorgio Chiellini but on one condition.


Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been of interest to Premier League rivals Manchester United for a number of years but they have been warned against hiring him due to Pochettino's love for the north London club.


While three official supporters groups have addressed the club in a letter about the early season ticket renewal date.

Romero's world-class ceiling

Cristian Romero arrived in the summer from Atalanta and been in impressive form for Tottenham Hotspur all season.

The Argentian has provided the team with a solid foundation at the back.

And former Spurs centreback Jonathan Woodgate believes that Romero will only get better, saying he could become as good as Leonardo Bonucci or Giorgio Chiellini.


But that can only happen on one condition.

United's Pochettino warning

Mauricio Pochettino left Tottenham in November 2019 and has been linked with a move to Manchester United ever since.


The Paris Saint-Germain manager was linked with a move to Old Trafford last season but the Red Devils opted for an interim boss in Ralf Rangnick.

Having excelled with Spurs and guiding them to a UEFA Champions League final in 2019, it's easy to see why United are enamoured with the Argentinian.

But the midweek loss to Real Madrid, coupled with his love for the north London club, could set off alarm bells in Manchester.

Tottenham could lose sporting director Fabio Paratici to Paris Saint-Germain following the French club's dramatic Champions League exit in midweek.

The manner of the defeat could see the Ligue 1 leaders make a number of changes, not only in the dugout but elsewhere in the club.

Current sporting director Leonardo could be out of a job with rumours of tension between himself and others behind the scenes.
