Billy Sharp has become the Championship's all-time leading goalscorer.

The Sheffield United forward scored his 122nd goal in the second tier during the Blades' game against Peterborough.

That took him above the competition's previous leader David Nugent. The records began when the Championship was rebranded back in the 2004-05 season.

Sharp, aged 35 now has eight goals in the league this season for Paul Heckingbottom's side.

Sharp was quizzed on the possibility of breaking the record in pre-season when he was on 114 goals whilst Huddersfield's Jordan Rhodes was locked on 115.

Sharp said at the time: "The Championship goal record would be nice to get.

"I'm sure Jordan Rhodes is looking at it too because David (Nugent) is not playing in the Championship and me and Jordan are.

"I might get a goal and then the week after he might go past me, or vice versa.

"I just want to score goals for Sheffield United."

Rhodes has yet to notch since returning to Huddersfield in the summer whilst Nottingham Forest's Lewis Grabban, the only other active player in the top five, is on 110 goals.
