Former Manchester United assistant Eric Ramsay is poised to become the next boss of West Brom with the 34-year-old recently furthering his reputation in the MLS

West Brom are eyeing up Minnesota United head coach Eric Ramsay as their next head coach with the ex-Manchester United assistant poised for a return to England.

The 34-year-old has spent the last two seasons with the MLS outfit, leading the club into the play-offs on both occasions, which has seen his reputation rise and now those making the decisions at the Hawthorns are ready to move, reports ESPN.

Mason only moved to West Brom in the summer following years at Tottenham but lasted just over six months. The loss at Leicester in midweek proved to be his last act and, after six losses in eight games, he was given his marching orders with the Baggies down in 18th.

Ramsay has long been well regarded in England, largely due to his work in Manchester. He arrived at Carrington as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's final recruit as manager and retained his role through the tenures that saw Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag at the helm.
Alongside that he also served the Wales men's national team as an assistant coach for six months, beginning in March 2023. He previously worked at youth level for the likes of Swansea City, Shrewsbury Town and Chelsea.

The Dutchman told the club's website in 2023: βEric is a really talented coach, and he is progressing a lot. He is ambitious and this will happen, and it will improve him and help him to get new experiences, but also it will improve Manchester United as he will bring experiences back in our coaching.β
A number of men who have served as assistants at Old Trafford in recent years have gone on to enjoy successful stints in the dugout. Michael Carrick, who has been linked with an interim return to Manchester, took charge of Middlesbrough and led them to the Championship play-offs.
Kieran McKenna went even better and took charge of Ipswich when they were in League One. He secured successive promotions for the Tractor Boys as they rose up to the Premier League for the first time in more than two decades. He again has them in the hunt for promotion after last year's relegation.
