Nottingham Forest have kindly donated £10,000 to heroic supporter Stephen Crean, who was stabbed six times in the Huntingdon train attack when he courageously tried to stop the knifeman. Crean, 61, was caught up in the incident while returning to south-west London after watching Forest's home 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

When a man began stabbing people indiscriminately, hero Crean confronted the attacker and was injured; suffering knife wounds to the head, back and hands. Crean's bravery has been lauded nationwide and a Just Giving page was set up to raise money for him.

Now, his beloved Forest have chipped in at the request of owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has vowed to help fund medical care for any supporters injured in the attack. As well as donating £10,000 to the fundraiser, the Premier League club have offered Crean a complimentary season ticket for the 2026-27 campaign, say talkSPORT.

Forest have also invited him to fly with their squad on a private charter to a Europa League fixture and stay at the team hotel before watching a match with the club's delegation in the directors box. The fundraiser's initial target of £500 has been smashed, reaching an incredible £47,561 in just three days.

The description on the Just Giving page reads: "It's likely that his selfless actions saved lives. Our thought are with Steve and his family and everyone else involved in this incident.

"Steve has been a regular fixture at Forest home and away games for many years... and is well known among our fanbase. This page has been set up by a group of Forest fans who know Steve, and would like to provide him with some financial support whilst he recovers from his injuries."

In a statement issued on Sunday, Marinakis said: "Everyone at Nottingham Forest is shocked and deeply saddened by what happened. The courage and selflessness shown by our supporters on that train represents the very best of humanity and the very best of our club's community.

"We will make sure any supporter caught up in this incident receives whatever financial support they require to enable them to access the best possible medical care as they recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected."

Crean recalled the terrifying ordeal and said that he 'didn't have much choice' but to fight back against the knifeman on the LNER service from Doncaster to London King's Cross. The 61-year-old revealed that he managed to get into a toilet on the train following the confrontation before armed police arrived at Huntingdon station.

"Do you want to die?" Crean recalls being asked by the attacker 'about three times'. Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough abode was charged on Monday with 10 counts of attempted murder.
