Real Madrid failed with an approach for Mbappe last summer, but the French forward is out of contract at the end of the season and talk of a move to Spain has not let up

Kylian Mbappe's future remains in the balance, with the Paris Saint-Germain forward out of contract in the summer and showing no signs of coming closer to an extension.
β
And while the Frenchman has insisted he remains committed to the club on the pitch, a fresh interview has added fuel to the suggestion he could be ready to leave Paris and move to Real Madrid.
β
The Spanish giants attempted to sign the 22-year-old over the summer, and have since expressed their frustration at the failed β¬200m bid, with president Florentino Perez saying "The state-owned clubs donβt sell their players. Itβs a madness".
β
"Now we offer β¬200 million for a single player and they don't sell him. When players finish their contract, it's better," Perez added.
Real Madrid aren't finished with their pursuit, though, and Mbappe's latest comments may well give them hope of bringing him to the Bernabeu.

Mbappe has scored 100 Ligue 1 goals since joining PSG from Monaco in 2017, and helped the team make a run to the 2020 Champions League final.
The French club are in the mix for European glory again this season, though they will have to get past Real Madrid if they want to progress.
β
The forward has spent his entire career in Ligue 1, winning multiple trophies, but his latest comments about "life experience" might hint towards a move away from his home country.

"It's the life experience that counts, more than making money," he added.

"I am thirsty above all for discoveries , trips, meetings with players, different cultures...
"I have a quiet relationship with money: I know it's important, I'm happy to have it, but that's not what drives me every second of the day."

If Mbappe does not agree a contract extension with PSG, he could be free to speak to other clubs in the new year ahead of a summer move.
This could complicate the upcoming Champions League last-16 clash, with PSG hosting Real Madrid in February before playing their second leg in the Spanish capital in March.
The teams were drawn together at the same stage in Mbappe's first season in Paris, with Real Madrid winning both legs en route to their most recent Champions League title in 2018.
However, there was some revenge for PSG in the 2019-20 group stages, with Mbappe missing a 3-0 win at the Parc des Princes but scoring at the Bernabeu in a 2-2 draw.
The World Cup winner is PSG's top scorer in all competitions this season, with four of his 13 goals coming in the Champions League.
