Manchester United are approaching the end of what's largely been a wretched campaign, and the club's focus is firmly on the future.

Boss Erik ten Hag is unlikely to lead the Red Devils into the Champions League next season but could still pick up an FA Cup winners' medal, with United facing Coventry in the semi-finals next Sunday. But success at Wembley in May might not save Ten Hag's job, as new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS colleagues are assessing his future.

Ratcliffe and co are also looking towards the summer transfer window, with United hoping to spend while avoiding Financial Fair Play sanctions. Targets are already being mooted and a new striker to compete with Rasmus Hojlund is high on the list of priorities.

Ten Hag 'expects the sack'

Toney could be just £30m

Brentford would reportedly be willing to sell Ivan Toney this summer for as low as £30million. The England international, 28, has is approaching the final year of his contract and expects to be put on the transfer market.

Sky Germany claim that a deal could be done for only £30m, with Manchester United among the sides most frequently linked. Arsenal, though, are still considered the frontrunners, having pursued a move for Toney in January while the striker was coming back from his eight-month ban for admitting to breaches of the FA's rules on betting.

Malacia injury latest

Tyrell Malacia reportedly chose not to inform Manchester United off an issue with his knee when signing from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. According to the Athletic, the Dutch left-back didn't discuss the soreness because he was eager to ensure that his £14million transfer didn't fall through.

Malacia, 24, hasn't made a single appearance this season and is currently training abroad, having undergone two rounds of surgery, one of which was in the Netherlands against United's advice.
