Rasmus Hojlund has hit the ground running at Napoli after joining the Serie A club on loan from Manchester United, and Denmark boss Brian Riemer has had his say on the striker's future

Denmark manager Brian Riemer has taken a swipe at Manchester United following Rasmus Hojlund's impressive displays for Napoli. The 22-year-old striker secured a season-long switch to the Italian side last summer after falling out of favour under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.
β
Despite his initial desire to remain at Old Trafford and compete for a starting berth, even with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, his choice to depart appears justified.
β
Hojlund found the back of the net just four times in the Premier League for United during the previous campaign - playing a part in the club's dismal 15th-placed finish in England's top division.
β
Yet in merely six appearances between Serie A and the Champions League, Hojlund has already matched that goal return whilst working under Napoli chief Antonio Conte.
Denmark chief Riemer has now weighed in on Hojlund, with the United striker preparing to represent his nation in Thursday's World Cup qualifying clash against Belarus on the road.
When questioned about whether Hojlund can still thrive in England, Riemer told TipsBladet: "I think Rasmus has the quality for both leagues, without discussion.
β
"Does he fit in Italian football? Yes.
"There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven that.
β
"But that doesn't mean he doesn't fit in English football. On the contrary, I would almost say."
He added: "The fact that he is now on a well-functioning team and has players around him who take pride in doing good for others helps to make the outcome for a striker like Rasmus, who needs to be serviced. It is more important than which league you play in."
