Barcelona boss verdict on Marcus Rashford speaks volumes for Man Utd - 'you could see it' - The Mirror

Marcus Rashford has been in fine form for Barcelona in recent weeks and has been praised by manager Hansi Flick for his performances in a new league

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has sung the praises of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old was sent out to Barcelona on a season-long loan deal in July after Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim made it crystal clear the winger had no future in his plans.

The Spanish giants hold an option to make Rashford's switch permanent for £30million come 2026. Following his impressive displays since the September international break, Barcelona are said to be eager to tie down the England star permanently - though they are hoping to negotiate a reduced fee of around £26m.

Rashford still has three years remaining on his existing Old Trafford deal, which he penned in July 2023 after netting a personal-best 30 goals for United during the 2022/23 campaign.

As the forward attempts to recapture the form he showed three seasons back, Flick has delivered an encouraging assessment when quizzed about the England international's recent displays. The attacker has now registered either a goal or assist in each of his last five appearances for Barcelona.

"Everyone could see it in the last games," Flick said via Marca.

"In Newcastle [scoring two goals] he gained a lot of confidence.

"It's not always easy, he came from another league. He is adapting well."

Rashford's first strikes in a Barca shirt came against Newcastle United in the Champions League this month, while he's also chipped in with one assist across his most recent four La Liga outings.

The Red Devils' homegrown talent was the provider for Jules Kounde's equaliser against Real Sociedad on Sunday, as Flick's squad rallied to secure a win thanks to Robert Lewandowski's second-half strike.

He'll now be aiming to build on this momentum ahead of the World Cup finals next summer, which England are expected to qualify for in the United States.
