Les Ferdinand, who played for Newcastle between 1995 and 1997, said: "A couple of guys said to me, 'Football, the wife and then work in that order!' Do you know what I mean? Football just means everything up here and you've got to know that as a player.

Despite their love for football, Newcastle still slipped to their first Champions League defeat of the season. The Magpies were pitted in the 'Group of Death' alongside Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, and they've done well to pick up four points so far.
Newcastle now have trips to Dortmund and PSG on the horizon, as well as a home clash against Milan. Manager Eddie Howe said after Wednesday night's game: "It is going to be difficult, but we're in the Champions League. Nothing comes easy.

"You know you're going to have to win in some tough places... When you play a team so quickly again we need to work out how we adjust and see if we can go there and get a result. I don't think we deserved to lose today."
Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy both suffered injuries against Dortmund, while Sandro Tonali is expected to receive a huge ban for breaching gambling rules - ending his season and hopes of playing in Euro 2024. That ban is set to be announced on Thursday.
