Jurgen Klopp sarcastically congratulated BT Sports interviewer Des Kelly after James Milner picked up a hamstring injury at Brighton.

Liverpool were denied a win on the south coast when Pascal Gross netted a penalty given by VAR.

And after the contest Klopp was left counting the costs of two drop points as he lost more players to injury.

The German has been particularly outspoken about the fixture schedule which he believes is heavily contributing to his lengthy injury list.

Part of his issue appears to be with the broadcasters who allocated them the lunchtime kick-off less than three days after a Champions League game.

β€œOh yes. Congratulations," he said when asked whether Milner had indeed injured his hamstring.

Des Kelly asked if it was a personal congratulations before Klopp responded: β€œNo, but you work for them (the broadcasters).

β€œHamstring, surprise. And they had injuries as well. Because a tough time, but ask Chris Wilder how we can avoid that.”

The Liverpool boss went on to lament the scheduling before Kelly attempted to remind him that the likes of BT Sport are operating within the parameters agreed by the Premier League.

β€œI don’t know how often have to say it. YOU picked the 12:30 kick-off, you," claimed Klopp.

β€œNot you personally but you did it, didn’t you.

β€œUs on 12:30. Between now and December and New Year, there’s one more Wednesday and Saturday 12:30.”

β€Œ

The German then underlined his priority being the safety of his players as he said: β€œI’m not having a go at the broadcaster, I just say how it is.

"12:30, after Wednesday, Saturday 12:30 is really, really dangerous for the players.”
