The Toffees finally pulled back the curtain on their new stadium, which cost around Β£800million to build, this weekend as supporters arrived for their first experience of a Premier League game against the Seagulls.

Everton fans didn't have to wait long before the historic first goal inside the stadium as Iliman Ndiaye netted the opening strike in the 23rd minute. James Garner then doubled Everton's lead in the second half, with new signing Jack Grealish assisting both goals.

The fans inside the ground were sent into raptures as they celebrated a poignant moment in their history as the sound from the celebrations boomed around the stadium.

Fans from other clubs couldn't help but marvel at the arena and its design after seeing it filled with spectators. It even drew praise from one Liverpool fan, who wrote on Twitter: "Everton’s new stadium looks fantastic. Good for them."

Another added: "i’m sorry i actually love this Everton stadium. It looks so so good," while a third said: "Hats off to Everton. The stadium looks stunning."

It even promoted other fans to urge their own clubs to follow suit and build a new ground, as one Chelsea fan added: "Wow, Everton's new stadium looks great, honestly. Chelsea needs to upgrade Stamford Bridge or move away."

Others praised the atmosphere the new ground was generating, as one said: "Fair play to Everton for making a proper atmospheric stadium.

"Looks like they've done a good job with the design to where the sound acoustics are pretty good- will quickly become a intimating place for opposition."

Everton went on to secure their 2-0 win over Brighton, their first win of the season after losing their Premier League opener against Leeds last week.
