Roberto Di Matteo's first taste of cup action with Aston Villa will be away from home, as his new club were drawn away to Luton in the first round of the EFL Cup.
Villa were the only relegated team in the draw for the first stage, with Newcastle and Norwich, who finished above them in the Premier League last season, entering the competition in the second round.
The draw, which was broadcast exclusively live on Facebook, also paired play-off final runners-up Sheffield Wednesday with Cambridge United.
Brighton and Derby, who also finished in the Championship top six this season, have been drawn to play Colchester and Grimsby respectively.
Matches will be played during the week commencing 8th August.
